FAQs
How does it work?
GaramGuitar is an online guitar instructional community. Students are placed into different levels, according to their proficiency, where each of them goes through three weeks of guitar education.
What are the levels?
We have 5 levels arranged along the musical spectrum. This begins from the ‘Ensign’ or 100 series level, all the way to the ‘Admiral’ or 500 series level. Students are allocated on the basis of a quick self-assessment.
What platform do I need to use?
The experience will be hosted on different platforms. Currently, we’re using discord to run our sessions. We encourage you to use Discord to access the material and Instagram to follow us for updates.
What all do I get access to?
Regardless of which level you are placed at, for the entire duration of the program, each student gets access to practical, theory, and song lessons every four days. Everyone is encouraged to practice (daily!) as they will be required to submit videos of their playing in addition to a final group assessment conducted on the last day of the program.
What is the community aspect?
From regular video lessons to weekly jams, learning songs together to monthly discussions of guitars, gear, and groove, Garam Guitar hopes to provide each student with musical buddies across the globe.
When does it go live?
Garam Guitar goes live on the 1st or 15th of every month. The programme is completed in 21 days from its commencement.
Is it free?
Yes. All the content provided and the community interaction is absolutely free for the students in the classroom. This also includes one-on-one sessions with our faculty, as per their schedule and time constraints.
What happens after the module is done?
On the final day, students each have the option to fill out a final assessment, where the learning outcomes for the level will be tested. Students who successfully complete the assignments and the final group assessment are promoted to the next level or encouraged to repeat the level again, the next time Garam Guitar goes live.
Why 21 day weeks?
The 21 day time-frame is ideal for each student to kickstart their muscle memory, habit formation and become comfortable with the musical information presented in the course. All we require is consistent practice of a minimum of 20 minutes per day, and you’re good to go.
